Frequently Asked Questions

Find quick answers to common queries about our services, cybersecurity best practices, and how to get the most out of your SecurePoint solutions. If your question isn't here, don't hesitate to contact us.

How do I contact SecurePoint support for urgent issues?

For urgent issues, you can contact us via our dedicated support hotline at (206) 555-0188. You can also submit a high-priority ticket through our support portal on this page, clearly marking its urgency. Our team monitors critical requests around the clock.

Additionally, registered enterprise clients may have access to a dedicated emergency contact line outlined in their service level agreement.

What are your standard support hours and response times?

Our standard support hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST). During these hours, we aim to respond to new support tickets within 2-4 business hours for standard requests and within 1 hour for urgent requests. For issues submitted outside of standard hours, we prioritize them the next business day, unless they are marked as critical or you are covered by an extended support plan.

You can find more detailed information on our response commitments in the contact section or your service agreement.

My antivirus detected a threat. What are the immediate steps I should take?

First, remain calm and follow the on-screen prompts from your SecurePoint antivirus software. It will typically recommend actions like 'Quarantine', 'Clean', or 'Delete'. Choose the recommended action. It's also wise to disconnect the affected device from the internet temporarily to prevent potential spread. Afterwards, run a full system scan. If you're unsure or the threat persists, please submit a support ticket immediately, providing details of the detection and any messages shown.

How often should I update my antivirus software and definitions?

Your SecurePoint antivirus software is designed to update its virus definitions automatically and frequently, often multiple times a day, to protect against the latest threats. Ensure this automatic update feature is enabled. For the software application itself, updates are released periodically to enhance features and security. We recommend enabling automatic updates for the application as well, or checking for updates weekly if manual updates are preferred. This ensures you have the most current protection.

I suspect my computer has malware. What are common signs?

Common signs of malware infection include a noticeable slowdown in computer performance, frequent crashes or error messages (Blue Screen of Death), unexpected pop-up advertisements, your web browser redirecting to unwanted sites, new toolbars or extensions appearing without your consent, unusual network activity, or files being modified or deleted. If you observe several of these symptoms, it's crucial to run a comprehensive scan with your security software. If the issues persist or you need help, contact our support team for expert assistance.

Can SecurePoint help remove ransomware and recover my files?

ShieldPoint Technology offers expert assistance in identifying and attempting to remove ransomware. However, file recovery from ransomware can be extremely challenging if files are encrypted and you don't have backups. We strongly advocate for proactive measures, including regular, tested data backups. While we can guide you through the removal process and explore decryption options if known tools exist for that specific ransomware variant, we cannot guarantee file recovery without prior backups. Please contact us immediately if you suspect a ransomware attack.

Advisory: Increased Brute-Force Attacks on RDP Services

Date: October 20, 2023 | Severity: Medium

We have observed a significant increase in automated brute-force attacks targeting Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) services exposed to the internet. Organizations utilizing RDP should ensure strong, unique passwords, enable Network Level Authentication (NLA), implement account lockout policies, and consider using a VPN or restricting RDP access to whitelisted IP addresses. Regularly review RDP logs for suspicious activity.
